Henry Youth Lacrosse hosted its 4th Annual Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp June 10th-13th at Union Grove High School. Thanks again to the school administrators and athletic director for allowing us to hold our camp at "The Grove." We hit a new milestone this summer, with 100+ boys and girls representing more than 30 different schools. We also hit new records for volunteers and were fortunate to have more than 60 parents, players, and other friends of HYL donate their time to make the camp a huge success (including many current/former high school and college lacrosse players and coaches). By all accounts, this year's camp was a huge success...except for us scheduling camp the week our regular volunteer photographer was on vacation. While our photos aren't as good as they have been the past few years (thanks to Kelli Sullivan), we did our best to capture as much of the camp fun as possible. You can view photos from our 2024 youth lacrosse camp below or visit the shared album here.
Henry Youth Lacrosse was selected by USA Lacrosse to serve as a 2023 "Pick Up and Play" Clinic Host, part of National Celebrate Lacrosse Week (November 4-12, 2023). Henry Youth Lacrosse was the only youth lacrosse program in Georgia selected to host a clinic in 2023. You can view photos from this event in our Google Photo album here. HYL hopes to once again join USA Lacrosse as a host site for its 3rd Annual NCLW event in 2024 (stay tuned for more details).
Henry Youth Lacrosse hosted its 3rd Annual Youth Lacrosse Summer camp this past June. We had over 70 boys and girls from more than 12 schools join us for camp this year and are excited about the growth of this camp. We are grateful for Union Grove High School once again serving as the host site for this week long event. You can view photos from our 2023 Youth Lacrosse Camp here. Special thanks to Kelli Sullivan for once again serving as our camp photographer for camp - she took some amazing photos.
Henry Youth Lacrosse hosted its 2nd Annual Youth Lacrosse Summer Camp June 20th-24th at Union Grove High School’s stadium. More than 80 boys and girls participated in camp this year (up from 35 last year!). Despite the heat, everyone had a lot of fun. You can view our Summer Camp Photo Album here. We hope to see many of these smiling faces on our teams in the fall!
Henry Youth Lacrosse recently partnered with USA Lacrosse to host a TryLax beginner lacrosse clinic at Strong Rock Christian School in Locust Grove, GA (thanks again to Strong Rock for hosting us for this event - their facilities are top-notch and provided the perfect backdrop to the event). USA Lacrosse hosts TryLax events across the U.S. and Henry Youth Lacrosse was fortunate to earn a grant which enabled us to bring this event to Henry County. In total, 80 boys and girls in grades K-8 signed up for the event - kids who had never tried lacrosse prior to this event. These children had an opportunity to learn a variety of fundamental lacrosse skills over the course of the 90-minute clinic, with groups rotating through a variety of stations set up with different lacrosse 'games' for the players to try.
Each station was staffed by multiple volunteer coaches from the Henry County lacrosse community, including current and former youth program coaches and current high school and college players (former youth players and current youth program volunteers). The clinic was led by Lou Corsetti, a Regional Director for USA Lacrosse - though better known as the Godfather of Atlanta Lacrosse across the metro area. Every clinic participant left with what we hope is their first of many lacrosse sticks - as well as a big ear-to-ear smile on their face. Elizabeth McCarthy, a local lacrosse parent (and a regular volunteer for several of our lacrosse groups in Henry County), was kind enough to take and share photos and videos from the event (see album below). On behalf of Henry Youth Lacrosse, I'd like to personally thank everyone who registered their children to "try lacrosse" at this recent clinic - and of course, our volunteers for helping to make the event a huge success. This was a milestone in the growth of our youth lacrosse program in Henry County for sure!
We had three Boys Lacrosse Teams this spring (10U, 12U, and 14U) and we played A LOT of lacrosse. We also had a Girls Skills Development Program and had quite a few girls working on all of their core fundamental skills throughout the season. We’ve added some photos from the spring season to our Google Photos Album below. If you have any photos from this or other seasons and Henry Youth Lacrosse events, please share them with us so we can post them to the website. Thanks!
