Players in grades K-1st will have the best experience in lacrosse long-term if they focus on skills development at this age (versus playing fully-equipped, competitive lacrosse).
Our Little Laxers program introduces our youngest players to the sport of lacrosse through fun, fast-paced games (a.k.a. "drills") that build the fundamental skills players will need to play the game competitively.
This group will have two one-hour practices each week (tentatively scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J.P. Moseley Park in Stockbridge, Georgia).
Each practice session will introduce new and developing players to basic lacrosse skills – with each session building on these skills over the course of the season. Players will learn the following lacrosse fundamentals through the Little Laxers program:

Individual Offense Fundamentals
In addition to individual skills development, our Little Laxers learn about important team concepts for lacrosse, including:

Competition & Sportsmanship
While our Little Laxers do not compete in games versus other programs, they will have an opportunity to play “small-sided” games against program participants. Small-sided games are variations on traditional lacrosse, typically played on a short-field 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 (depending on attendance).
All Little Laxers practices are “no equipment” – players play with sticks and soft balls. Gloves, eye protection, and mouth guards are encouraged, but not required at this age group (this age group plays “no contact” and player safety is a priority for coaches at all sessions).
Parents are encouraged to purchase sticks for their players (coaches will review this information before the season begins), though loaner sticks will be available for the first few weeks of practices. We recommend players have their own sticks so they can practice outside of practice and continue developing their skills.
